Jean Ross, Former Aquatics Supervisor Makes a Splash at Liquid Launch!

Jean Ross and Dave WarrenIt was certainly my great pleasure to meet Jean Ross.  As many of you know, Jean was our first aquatics supervisor.

I was speechless when she told me that from time to time she wondered what an 'old gal was still hanging around for'...she then said, by coming out today (Sunday) and seeing the new pool she had her answer.  If that doesn't make it all worth while I am not sure what would.

Thanks for coming Jean.

500 Plus Attend Liquid Launch

The Royal Glenora Club has been waiting for this since 1971, as pointed out by Club President Bill Patrick during his remarks at the Liquid Launch.  Words to the effect "...the Club needs to consider a year round aquatics facility..." are in the Board of Directors minutes from 39 years ago and on Sunday July 18th it officially came to fruition.

It was understandably difficult to hear the brief formal remarks but please take a moment to read through President, Bill Patrick's address to all our members and guests in attendance.  Click here for Bill Patrick's formal remarks.

Shauna Hostland, Sales and Marketing Manager will be very busy doing follow ups, while Marketing Committee Member Jen Cherneski, General Manager Dave Warren and Assistant General Manager, David Martin beam over the success of the event.  It was a team effort combining all departments, suppliers, and members.

Even $437.00 was raised at the Dunk Tank for our charity "Kids Up Front".

Attendance estimates of Members and their Guests are north of the 500 mark.  Everyone enjoyed the band, the "jumpy castle", the food, and of couse, the Aquatics facility.  Member's guests were wowed as the sun shone bright the entire time.

Special thanks to the following suppliers:  Printing Impressions & Graphics Inc., Howard Fix & the Righteous Muthers, World of Fun Rentals, Vincor Canada, Canterbury Coffee Corporation, Pinocchio Ice Cream, Chapmans' Fresh Produce, Zocalo - Funky Flowers & Gifts, SYSCO, Bridgbrand Foods, WOW Dessert Factory, Infinite Event Services, H & W Produce, Wild Game, Coca-Cola Ltd., European Foods, Canada Bread, Centennial Foods, Ice Cream Depot.

Hackers Golf Huge Success

Hackers Golf Tournament July  8, 2010.  What a wonderful warm, sunny day as picked by Gordon Cole.

Four by four,  88 players teed off in a Texas Scramble from the first tee box at Victoria Golf Course.  First it was a  group picture.  After the last putt was sunk by France Kirke, all players and spouses met at the Royal Glenora in the Braemar Room.  The din of after after golf stories was deafening.

Roy Nickerson & Paula Brisebois as Masters of Ceremony brought the room under control, well sort of.   When order had been restored we sat down to a sumptuous meal.  Our Thanks to everyone on the Food & Beverage Staff, you did a  great job.

When dinner was done it was prize presenting time, and as Roy had to leave early Jack Rutherford was gracious enough to step to the podium in Roy's place.  As unfamiliar as he is at the podium he did a splendid job.

Andrew Megson, Leslie Lambert, Warren Jones.  Missing: Doah Ozum
Big Thanks to Gary Fletcher and Ryan Schoffel for the audit of the scorecards, most with unreadable numbers.  They declared this years winning team to be -  Andrew Megson, Doah Ozum, Warren Jones & Leslie Lambert with 8 under par, well done team.  Rest assured the won't be together next year.

Thanks to all the golfers that came out in support of the tournament, we couldn't do it without you.
