Honouring Our Junior Athletes: 2026 Junior Awards Night at the Royal Glenora Club

On June 8, 2026, the Royal Glenora Club was proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our junior athletes at the annual Junior Awards Night. The evening brought together athletes, families, coaches, and staff to recognize a year of hard work, perseverance, sportsmanship, and success both on and off the field of play.

Throughout the season, our juniors demonstrated dedication to their training, commitment to their teammates, and a passion for their respective sports. Their efforts have not only led to impressive results in competition but have also strengthened the vibrant athletic community that makes the Royal Glenora Club so special.

Athletes from Aquatics, Badminton, Figure Skating, Squash, and Tennis were recognized for their accomplishments, personal growth, and contributions to their programs. The evening was filled with celebration, reflection, and appreciation for the many young athletes who continue to represent the Club with excellence and integrity.

Fred Miller Award

Uxia Gonzalez-Abraldes: 2025 Skate Canada Novice Women National Bronze medalist. 2026 Skate Canada Nationals in Gatineau, Quebec Uxia placed 6th in the Junior Women U19 event. She was selected to represent Canada at the Maria Olszewska Memorial competition in Lodz, Poland winning the Junior Women event. She skated a clean short program earning a personal best score of 54.71 and delivered 5 triple jumps in her long program to win overall. She was also named to the Skate Canada Junior National Team-(Next Gen) 2025-26 and renamed to the team this year 2026-27.

Achievement Award

  • Uxia Gonzalez-Abraldes: Junior Women U19 Bronze medalist at the 2026 Skate Ab Sectional (Provincial Championships) 2026. She qualified for the Skate Canada Challenge-Nationals placing 10th and qualified for the National Championships placing 6th landing her first Triple toe/Triple toe combination in competition. She was selected to represent Canada at the Maria Olszewska Memorial Competition in Lodz, Poland Feb 2026 winning the Junior Women U19 event. She was named to the 2025-26 and 2026-27 Skate Canada Next Gen/Junior National Team. She competed at the JUL 2025 Next Gen competition placing 6th.

  • Fiona Mao: Fiona has displayed extremely high levels of commitment and development over the last season of squash. She competed at the Canadian Junior Open, which is an international event attracting players from all over the world. In this event she secured a top 5 fishing. After working through a serious injury, she then continued to Vancouver to Play in the Canadian Junior championships where she managed to finish 3rs overall in the Girls U/15 category. These are remarkable achievements which have earned her the “Special Achievement Award”.

Rose Bowl Award

Arlet Gonzalez-Abraldes: Pre-Novice Women U16 silver medalist at the 2026 Skate Ab Sectional -Provincial Championships. Qualified for her first Nationals- Skate Canada Trophy placing 22nd. She also won Wildrose competition, Fall Invitational, and placed 2nd at the BC SummerSkate competition. She has qualified for the Skate AB Select Team.

Halo Award

Kaydee Kallay: Kaydee was voted by her peers and coaches as the recipient of the Halo Award for her kindness, positivity, and genuine support of others. She is always caring, encouraging, and supportive of her peers, bringing a positive energy to the rink each day. Alongside being an exceptional teammate and role model, Kaydee is also an incredibly dedicated and hardworking athlete whose commitment to training is evident in everything she does. Her hard work and perseverance this season led to outstanding competitive success, including earning the silver medal at the 2026 Skate AB Sectional Championships Junior Women event and placing 12th overall at the 2026 Skate Canada National Championships. Kaydee’s ability to balance high-level competitive achievement with kindness, humility, and support for others makes her truly deserving of the Halo Award.

Phil Allard Award

Sharlise Wu: Sharlise Wu is recognized for her outstanding work ethic and the energy she consistently brings on court. A strong role model for younger players, she inspires those around her through both performance and attitude. Alongside her success as a Triple Crown winner at the RGC 2026 Club Championships and a top 4 finish in the Alberta Gold Series, Sharlise also contributes as part of the part-time assistant coaching team, giving back to the junior program. We are proud of you Sharlise!

Ian Paton Award

Domenico Noce: The nature of the Ian Paton award is to recognize an athlete who has displayed an excellent wholistic sporting ethos in squash, partnered with a competitive edge and team leadership. Domenico Noce has displayed all three. Dom has displayed excellent levels of effort in both court sessions, fitness sessions and in his personal training capacity. Dom has also competed at the NJC Gold and Platinum level. Lastly, Dom has set an exemplary example as a leader amongst his peers. This was seen through his creation and management of the Junior Division 2 league team this last season

Brian Francis Award

Jack Snell: Jack Snell is receiving the Brian Francis Award in recognition of his tremendous commitment and passion toward his development both on and off the court. Through his exceptional work ethic, leadership, and support for fellow participants, Jack has become a role model to his program participants and the next generation of athletes he works with. As the most prestigious award presented to our junior athletes, the Brian Francis Award reflects Jack’s dedication, character, and positive impact on those around him.

Pauline Ingall Award

Jacob Pfliger: Jacob Pfliger stands out for his exceptional work ethic and consistent commitment within the junior programs. Whether he’s competing on court or assisting with younger athletes, Jacob brings energy, reliability, and a positive attitude. He frequently volunteers in our Junior Learn to Play and Intro to Competitive sessions, showing a genuine dedication to supporting developing players. His willingness to contribute in multiple roles makes a lasting impact on both his peers and the next generation of players. Congratulations Jacob!
